What is Microneedling

Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure that’s been safely done for several years, but many people still don’t know much about it or its benefits. However, Microneedling is an excellent treatment and a possible solution to many common skin problems. This article will discuss all the details you need to know about this simple and effective procedure.

Worried about the cost of microneedling? We have financing and membership plans that can help. So keep reading to find out how to get microneedling done for less!

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a non-invasive, non-surgical skin care procedure also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The treatment uses small needles to resurface and penetrate the skin, delivering a variety of different benefits.

There are many kinds of microneedling tools, but the most common one you will encounter is a dermapen. This small tool has a circular head that’s covered with a few dozen or even up to a hundred tiny needles. These needles are even tinier than those used for injections, so you can barely even feel them when they penetrate the skin barrier.
Microneedling is a procedure that doesn’t require a lot of recovery time yet can have tremendous benefits for the skin.

What Does Microneedling Do?

The science behind microneedling is simple. The procedure causes microdamage to the skin, which stimulates new collagen formation. This is how microneedling rejuvenates your appearance. Your body essentially heals itself!

Most commonly, microneedling uses tiny needles to resurface the skin and treat blemishes, enlarged pores, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other imperfections that may make the patient feel self-conscious. Additionally, microneedling can sometimes treat hair loss in both men and women.

Since microneedling penetrates the skin with tiny needles, it is also often used in more intensive facial treatments to deliver hyaluronic acid fillers under the skin’s surface. This can make your complexion appear fuller and more youthful.
If you have problems like acne scars or troubling dark marks, microneedling could also be an excellent treatment for you.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Microneedling?

Just about anyone experiencing the skin issues mentioned above can be a good candidate for microneedling. However, there are a few people who should not consider the procedure.

For example, if you have open wounds, sores, or blemishes, you do not want to have microneedling done as it would cause more discomfort. Additionally, some patients with highly sensitive or reactive skin may not be suitable candidates for the procedure. If this sounds like you, be sure to consult with our clinicians before scheduling a microneedling session.

How Much Does Microneedling Cost?

Microneedling treatments can range anywhere from $200 to $700 per session, depending on a few factors. They include the areas you choose to treat, the severity of your scars, and the number of treatments you will need to reduce them.
However, at La Belle Vie, we offer many solutions to help our clients achieve their skincare goals. For example, customers who take advantage of our monthly membership plans can get up to 25 percent off aesthetic treatments, including microneedling. We also offer financing for those who would like to spread their payments out over time. Additionally, you’ll want to keep an eye on our monthly specials since we often offer outstanding packages and promotions. To find out more about any of these programs, contact us today!

Does Microneedling Hurt?

You might cringe at the thought of dozens of tiny needles penetrating your skin. However, microneedling is truthfully not painful at all! Even those with the most sensitive skin describe the sensation as only slightly uncomfortable.

Most practitioners even opt to administer a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area before beginning treatment. This further reduces the possibility of any discomfort. However, since the needles used in the microneedling tool are so thin, you might not even feel them at all.

Does Microneedling Cause You To Bleed?

Generally not. Although occasionally, you might experience mild pinpoint bleeding. This is normal and will subside quickly. Contrary to what you may have heard, you do not need to bleed for the microneedling procedure to “work” correctly.

What Should I Expect During My Microneedling Appointment?

During your microneedling appointment, you will arrive and be greeted by a clinician. Most likely, you will have been advised to avoid using certain skincare products in the days leading up to your procedure.

First, your practitioner will sit you down and explain what will happen during the procedure. Then, a numbing cream (depending on your skin and your preferences) will be applied, and you will likely need to wait a few minutes for that to take effect. Finally, the microneedling will begin, and a needling tool will be used either all over the face or specifically in problem areas. From there, you are free to go!

What Should I Expect After My Microneedling Appointment?

After your microneedling appointment, you will probably feel numb for a little while as the topical anesthetic fades. Additionally, you may experience some immediate side effects like redness, swelling, flaking, or skin irritation.

Over the next day or two, these issues may continue on and off. However, these side effects are temporary and should fade within the first few days following the procedure. After the swelling has gone down, you will start seeing glowing, youthful, healed skin underneath!

You should also notice a significant reduction or complete absence of your acne scars, stretch marks, dark marks, or other problem spots.

Are There Any Serious Side Effects To Microneedling?

The side effects that come alongside microneedling are generally minor and temporary. However, none of them are severe and will not result in more than a few days of mild discomfort.

Serious side effects with micro needling are uncommon, as the procedure is not invasive. However, you should let us know if irritation or discomfort persists for longer than a week following your treatment.
