What Is Radiesse Made Of?
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. These microspheres are biocompatible and similar to minerals naturally found in your body.
How Radiesse Works
Radiesse delivers a dual-action approach:
Immediate results: When injected, the gel carrier provides instant volume correction. You see immediate smoothing of wrinkles and restoration of contours right away.
Long-term improvement: Over the following months, the CaHA microspheres stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. As the gel carrier is absorbed, your own newly formed collagen takes its place, maintaining volume and even improving skin quality.
This unique mechanism means Radiesse results can last 12-18 months or longer – significantly longer than many other fillers.

Dermal fillers aren’t permanent, but that’s actually an advantage – it allows us to adjust your treatment over time as your face changes and trends evolve.
Touch-Up Treatments
Most clients return for touch-ups:
- Every 6-12 months for lip fillers
- Every 9-18 months for facial folds and wrinkles
- Every 12-24 months for cheek and mid-face volume
- As needed based on individual results
Some clients choose to let their fillers completely fade and then restart. Others prefer to maintain their results with regular touch-ups before the filler is completely gone.
Building Results Over Time
Many of my Utah clients start conservatively and build their results gradually over multiple sessions. This approach:

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers
Do Dermal Fillers Hurt?
Most clients describe filler injections as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. We use numbing cream, and most fillers contain lidocaine for comfort during injection. Many people find the anticipation worse than the actual treatment.
Can I Get Fillers Before a Big Event?
Yes! The immediate results make dermal fillers perfect for special events. I recommend scheduling your appointment 2-4 weeks before your event to allow any swelling or bruising to completely resolve. However, many clients have treatment just days before events without issues.
Will I Look Overdone or Fake?
Not when done properly! At La Belle Vie, my philosophy is enhancing your natural beauty, not changing your appearance. I use conservative amounts and artistic techniques to create results that look like a refreshed, rested version of you – not someone else entirely.
What If I Don’t Like My Results?
For hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Belotero), we can dissolve them with an enzyme if you’re unhappy. Radiesse cannot be dissolved but will gradually be absorbed by your body over time. This is why I start conservatively – it’s always easier to add more than to take away.
