ACNE & ACNE SCAR TREATMENT IN DRAPER, UTAH

Control the Acne First, Then Treat the Scars

Active acne needs medical management before resurfacing is appropriate. Once it is controlled, scar type determines the modality — and we will tell you honestly what improvement is achievable.

ORDER OF OPERATIONS

The most common mistake in acne scar treatment is resurfacing skin that still has active acne. It is unsafe, it produces worse healing, and it is pointless — new scarring forms while you are treating old scarring. So the first question at every consultation is whether your acne is actually controlled, and if it is not, that is what we address before anything else. Kelly has more than thirty years of clinical medicine behind her, and acne is treated here as the medical condition it is rather than as a skincare inconvenience.

Once the acne is under control, scar type determines the treatment. Atrophic scarring — the depressed scars most people mean when they say acne scars — divides into rolling, boxcar, and ice-pick types that respond very differently. Rolling scars, with their tethered base, often improve substantially with dermal remodeling from fractional CO2 or Profound RF. Boxcar scars respond to resurfacing that can address their defined edges. Ice-pick scars are narrow and deep and frequently need a different approach entirely. Post-inflammatory pigmentation, which patients often describe as scarring, is a pigment problem and resolves along a completely different route.

That is why we assess before we recommend. A clinic that offers one device will tell you that device is the answer regardless of your scar type. Here the honest answer is often a sequence across modalities and across months — some CO2, some Profound, microneedling in between, and medical-grade home care running throughout.

We also set the target honestly. Substantial improvement is a realistic goal for most atrophic scarring. Complete erasure is not, and any clinic promising it is selling something. You will get a specific description of what we expect to achieve, over what timeframe, and what it costs, at your free consultation.

Common questions

ACNE & SCARRING QUESTIONS

Common questions from teenage and adult acne patients

No, and we will not. Resurfacing skin with active acne is unsafe, heals poorly, and is futile because new scarring forms while you treat old scarring. We control the acne first — that is part of the plan, not a delay to it.

It depends on your scar type. Rolling and boxcar scars respond well to fractional CO2 or Profound RF; ice-pick scars often need a different approach. That assessment is the whole point of the consultation.

Usually not. Those are typically post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is a pigment problem rather than a textural one and resolves by a completely different route — often far more easily than true scarring.

Yes. Adult acne, particularly hormonally driven acne in women, is common and is treated medically. It frequently needs a different approach from adolescent acne.

Substantial improvement is a realistic goal for most atrophic scarring across a properly sequenced plan. Complete erasure is not achievable, and we will tell you that rather than let you expect it.

No. La Belle Vie does not bill insurance, including for medical dermatology visits. Pricing is given to you upfront and financing is available.
