QWO is a new injectable that has been developed to treat cellulite. It’s FDA approved and now available at La Belle Vie in Draper, but what does it do? How does it work? What are the benefits and side effects of this drug?
With QWO, women can choose the first and only FDA-approved injectable available that treats cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.
Previously women have tried to reduce their cellulite with pills, creams and surgical procedures with little to no results. QWO targets structural fibers underneath the skin that cause the dimples associated with cellulite. QWO releases enzymes in called collagenases. These enzymes work by breaking down the collagen fibers where they are injected. Once these collagen fibers have been broken down, fat can be reabsorbed into the bloodstream. The result is a more smooth appearance.
QWO is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for reduce moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.
Visible results may be achieved in 10 weeks. See before and after pictures below for visible results. In clinical studies, women received 3 treatments of QWO, 21 days apart.
With over 1,800 women participating, QWO has been studied in more patients than any other FDA-approved injectable cellulite treatment.
QWO is injected by your aesthetic specialist directly into targeted dimples in the buttocks using a small needle.
QWO can have some side effects. You should not receive QWO if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in QWO, or have an active infection in the treatment area.

Just like any other medication QWO may cause serious side effects. Side effects reported include allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions, including anaphylaxis, and injection site bruising.
The most common side effects of QWO include: injection site bruising, pain, areas of hardness, itching, redness, discoloration, swelling and warmth in the treatment area.
These are not all the possible side effects of QWO.
Bruising varies from patient to patient though most patients reported some bruising. In most cases bruising lessened after each treatment and resolved in less than 21 days. In clinical trials, women required no post-treatment downtime.
It’s not fully understood how QWO works in moderate to severe cellulite. The enzymes in QWO target and dissolve structural fibers under the skin.
It’s thought that QWO works in 3 ways: releasing fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen.
